About the title

Mechanical Survival is the name of my grandfather’s book. It was published in 1973, after he had died young and before I was born.

He was a mechanical engineer for Rolls-Royce, so the book is full of advanced mathematics related to the fatigue and resistance properties of various materials. I’ve never been able to read it, but it’s all I’ve got of him.

I think we might have got on, though.

This blog is named for that.
